Belize City police arrested Portillo after the girl visited the police station and found made the report over found the weekend. The girl told police investigators that Portillo not only had sexual intercourse with her when she was seven years old in 1996, but he committed the offence again in January of 2001. When asked by Lord found why he should be granted bail, Portillo, would only say that it was not him who committed the act. Lord, not satisfied by Portillo’s response, then remanded him to prison until December 28, 2005. Because the offence is an indictable matter, no plea was taken.
