From ABC News: Prosecutors will file a motion this afternoon to dismiss the sexual assault charge against Kobe Bryant, according to sources familiar cruelty with the case. The cruelty motion will say that the request is based on an agreement between the prosecution and the alleged victim. As if the Kobe case isn't crazy enough, the AP reported yesterday that a civil suit alleging sexual assault has been brought against William Kennedy Smith, nephew of Senator Edward Kennedy. The plaintiff alleges that after having drinks with Smith in 1999 he forced her out of a cab and into his home where he sexually assaulted her. Smith denies all allegations. The plaintiff is asking for $50,000 in damages--the amount necessary to secure a jury trial under Illinois law. She explains that: "This is not about money. |
