| AARP’s landmark report, “The Business Case for job seaker Workers Age 50+,” found that companies’ investments in experienced workers translate into a tremendous plus for their businesses. As the oldest of the boomers turn 60 in 2006, attracting and retaining skilled workers will become increasingly critical for employers who seek to retain a competitive edge. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2004 there were approximately 375,000 adults ages 55-64 working in Washington State, and approximately 67,000 65+ workers. "The good news is that we are job seaker living longer, healthier and more active lives. And many of us job seaker want to and are able to continue contributing in the workplace and to society,” says AARP State President Art Cruz. "We recognize that the future workforce will depend on 50+ workers, which is why AARP is honoring and highlighting employers with exceptional policies and practices for older workers.” |
