Yes, drugs the judge did provide a 60 day sentence, in drugs order for the man to get counseling. Because of the fact the man is mentally retarded, the opinion of the court's medical advisors was that he needed counseling, especially since he evidently didn't have a clue as to why everyone was angry with him. The man is Boo Radley, for God's sake. Because of the way the prison system is structured in Vermont, drugs low-risk repeaters (the assessment of the penal system in Vermont, not the judge's term) may not receive treatment when in prison. The 60 days was the minimum so that the man might have treatment on day 61. If there was a chance to take this man and keep him from doing this again, then, yes, it is the right sentence. It was subsequent to that when the Vermont Dept of Corrections reclassified the man as "high-risk", at which point the judge changed his sentence accordingly.
