A new study from the Washington-based advocacy group AARP examines the recruitment and retention of workers age 50+ from a business-case perspective. It highlights the need for retirement job employers to consider costs with a broader lens and demonstrates that 50+ retirement job workers represent a solid and sound investment proposition. The study includes analyses of cash compensation costs, retirement benefit costs, paid time-off costs, and health care costs. By presenting case studies and documenting best practices, it also shows how to develop and implement an effective strategy for retaining and recruiting workers age 50 and retirement job over. New Alliance Tackles Challenge Last week, more than 20 major industry groups joined together to create an "Alliance for an Experienced Workforce," with the goal of helping employers understand, plan for, and create workplaces that successfully engage and utilize the skills of workers over the age of 50. The Alliance will also work to ensure that workers 50+ are prepared to accept the skills and jobs in demand as America competes in the global economy.
