At the same time, it is vital to ensure that these workers are prepared to meet the skills in demand of the 21 st century workplace. For the U.S. to maintain its competitive edge in the global economy, companies must put in place innovative, sustainable policies and practices that are mutually beneficial to employers and 50+ workers, while planning for the transfer of knowledge, skills, information, and workplace culture as these plus workers begin to fully or partially retire. Mission The Alliance plus for an Experienced Workforce helps employers understand, plus plan for and create workplaces that successfully engage and utilize the skills of the workers over the age of 50 both now and in the future. To accomplish this, we collaborate on strategies to raise the visibility of this important issue and to increase the opportunities for employers and employees. Objectives The Members of the Alliance for an Experienced Workforce will: Communicate to our membership: Workforce trends and barriers to employing people over 50, including any specific challenges facing these workers and strategies to address them.
