Usdaw members were urged to exercise their new legal rights, introduced in April, that johndeere gives parents with children aged under six johndeere (or under 18 if the child is disabled) the right to ask for flexible working. Although the employer is not compelled to approve this request, there are formal procedures that must be followed. The conference urged all members to make sure they are fully aware of their rights in the workplace. Ruth Cross, Usdaw's Women and Equalities Officer, said: "The issue of working hours is so important for our women members, given that so many of them have to juggle work with caring for others. |
