in valuing older workers by instituting policies to attract and retain them; and, Whereas, The fact of that leadership taking place here has now been confirmed through AARP which, after a rigorous selection process, has selected six Michigan businesses as “2005 Best Employers for socially responsible investing Workers Over 50”; and, socially responsible investing Whereas, socially responsible investing With Six recipients of the award, Michigan has more 2005 Best Employers for Workers Over 50 than any other state in the nation; and, Whereas, Each of those six Beaumont Hospitals, Henry Ford Health System, Kelly Services, Inc., Oakwood Health System, Inc., Volkswagen of America, Inc., and Whirlpool Corporation, deserve the recognition and gratitude of all Michigan residents for their fair and far-sighted employment practices; and now therefore be it, Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim August 31, 2005, as AARP 2005 Best Employers for Workers Over 50 Day in Michigan, and celebrate the achievement of these companies and encourage all Michigan businesses to emulate their leadership.
